Conversion & extension

The single storey conversion and extension project in Taunton involved the conversion of an existing large double garage into a fully self-contained annex, which was designed to provide comfortable and light-filled accommodation. Due to the site’s mature tree coverage, screw-piled foundations were selected to minimise ground disturbance while ensuring structural integrity.

The new annex is electrically heated and includes a bedroom, bathroom and a well-planned kitchen-diner, creating a practical and welcoming living space. Natural light was a key design focus, achieved through the installation of timber bi-folding doors, full-height timber windows and a flat roof lantern. Luxury vinyl tile flooring was laid throughout, offering a durable and contemporary finish. Alongside the annex works, the existing garage was renovated with new hardwood timber garage doors, roof lights and a mezzanine storage floor.

Externally, the entire building was finished in vertical cedar cladding, left to weather naturally to a silver tone, allowing the development to sit harmoniously within its surroundings.
